National Youth Theatre- not quite for the win.

Well, I'm back in the land where theatre is expensive and only for gays and womens.

It was enjoyable at times (mostly when we were pissed) and not so enjoyable at times (mostly when we had to do yet another abstract representation of binge-drinking youth in today's society).

BUT.

Next year they might be doing Hamlet (yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, PLEASE).  Speaking of which, two people have told me now I'd make a good Ophelia.  Am slightly worried- does the world really view me as a borderline mental case?  With optional naivety and subservience, depending on how you play it?

Ah well.  The rest is silence.

When we were drunkenly casting people as Shakespeare characters (come on, we're drama students), I was Viola from Twelfth Night, so that's good.  Despite the fact that I'm actually playing Olivia from Twelfth Night.

AND.

The most important bit of the course.  THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO LOOKED LIKE OTHER HOT FAMOUS PEOPLE.

Ok, first up, MAC BOY.

I looked at him and went "OMFGKLEFJGWRO.....SQUEE!!!!"  He doesn't just loom like the spitting image of how a teenage Mac would look but he even moves like him and he's funny and witty and cool and relaxed and really clever (has a passioj for English, wants to do it at Cambridge- be still my beating heart!)

Unfortunately, he had the drawback of not liking me back so never mind.

Anyway, PICTURES:

Unfortunately he liked this girl, who was disgustingly pretty.  Didn't really stand a chance, did I?

Ok, next Ollie.  In his last year at cambridge doing English (double points) and looks so much like Colin Firth, I actually went home and watched Bridget Jones' Diary.  These aren't the best pics of him though...

And finally Simon, who looked vaguely like David Tennant but was voted most fuckable by the group (excuse my language) because he's honestly just brilliant.  Funny, talented, quirky, not afraid to take risks- he's pretty wonderful.  And here are pictures (on the left in both):

So to round off, here's two of the whole group.  See if you can spot me with my new haircut...

So there we go, that's NYT!  More Real Life updates soon, I promise!

Comments

Jesus, he really does look like Mac. Fraise blonde, mmm.
I know, I was actually shocked at how similar they were. He even moved exactly like him as well- he did all the hand movement mannerisms and had the same really strong-looking but skinny, veiny forearms and hands, which was stupidly attractive...
Oh man ... a Mac, a Firth and a DT? Swoon extreme! Two of the English students at Cambridge, too? Lucky you! Glad you had fun, and Hamlet would be awesome to do :)

p.s. If it's you in the green, then luuuurvely new haircut!
I know, I felt extremely lucky and also doomed to spinsterhood at the same time. Although Ollie (Colin Firth) did say that if he was a) single and b) three years younger he would.

That is me in the green! Thanks!
I know that feeling - 'So many pretty boys, ALL OF THEM UNOBTAINABLE'. Grrrr. You got (almost) propositioned by Colin Firth. WIN ^_^
Too bad Colin Firth is such a gentleman :P

I almost died of the unobtainable pretty...
Holy woah, they look so much like them! Am revising decision to abandon theatre as a career... (I can't see her in the pictures, but did you ever meet someone called Emma Piercey? She was/is in NYT, only I can't remember which.)
I didn't but that is probably because this was a course for all the newbies so I might end up doing a show with her next year *crosses fingers and whispers* HamletHamletHamlet...

Frog girl

Hey, Sorry you have no idea who I am whatsoever. Althought I guess I can call myself a fellow NYT member now. Anyway, that disgustingly pretty girl looks like a frog. hmm.

Re: Frog girl

Hello fellow NYT member!

Were you on this year's course too are am I the only newbie here?

And that's good to know about the frog thing. There may be hope for the rest of the female population of the world yet.

Re: Frog girl

Hmmm well I'm gay so it was more of just an opinion. And nope. I auditioned in Feb and got in in April. So my course is next april. WHICH IS A PISSTAKE, because I'll be nearly 17 then, with the younger people because I auditioned when I was 15....hmph.

Re: Frog girl

Still, it's good to get another opinion on the matter :P

Argh, that's frustrating. Alas. It'll be great anyway, I'm sure, but that is a bit pissy.

Re: Frog girl

Indeed. Are you on it?

Re: Frog girl

If you're referring to the course, then no, I did it this summer- I can do plays next year an' all :D

Re: Frog girl
