Haven't had internet for two weeks so this is very late BUT...

...I GOT INTO MAGDALEN (OXFORD)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get to GO THERE (if I don't fuck up my A-Levels) to that BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, MAGICAL PLACE.  To LEARN about THINGS I LOVE.

Oh, thank you Baby Jesus.

You don't actually -know- me or anything, but I am absolutely thrilled on your behalf (and not half jealous - I'm applying next year, if my AS levels are good enough). What a fantastic Christmas present!

Thanks! Except that two of my nearest and dearest are applying to Cambridge and I really hope they get in so I can't hate them too much :P

Unfortunately the pretty Mac Lookalike I met on NYT was dithering between Ox and Camb and chose Camb. Darn it.

Interesting to have found someone who has heard of Hertford, it seems to generally pass unnoticed! Good luck with any exams you're taking at the moment.

I looked at Hertford when I was applying- it's got a very good Shakespeare scholar apparently and is also all sort of small and lovely and has a Bridge of Sighs- but then Magdalen was big and lovely and had a deer park and its own very good Shakespeare scholar and I always knew I would have to apply there in the end...

Mercifully, I am free from the menace of January exams, otherwise I think I might commit a stress-related murder, possibly involving choking someone with the unlearnt lines from their Twelfth Night script. How about you?
